据凤凰卫视报道，8月24日，美国最高法院叫停下级法院对特朗普邮寄投票限制令的禁令，为特朗普推进相关措施扫清障碍，但仍有其他司法限制存在。
最高法院批准了司法部的紧急请求，暂缓执行波士顿联邦法官6月的裁决，这项裁决此前阻止特朗普在23个民主党主政的州及华盛顿特区实施行政令。特朗普3月签署的行政令要求整理公民名单、优先起诉向不合格人员发选票的官员，并限制邮政署仅向符合资格的选民递送选票。
特朗普长期质疑邮寄投票的安全性，并承诺终结这种做法。由于民主党选民更倾向邮寄投票，限制措施可能对共和党有利。
