THL Gourmet Foods Inc. is one of the leading importers and distributors of Asian food products from the Pacific Rim and other regions of the world. We are looking for a candidate for the position of Asian Independent Retail Sales Department – Sales Representative in our ON office.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Asian Independent Retail – Sales Representative to join our dynamic Sales team. Reporting to the Asian Independent Retailer Sales Department Manager, this role is responsible for servicing established clients while identifying and developing new opportunities within the local Asian grocery retail market. With a balance of account management and new business development, you will play a key role in achieving sales targets and building long-term customer relationships.
This position requires regular local travel for client meetings and industry events.
Responsibilities:
Consistently achieve or exceed monthly sales targets.
Manage inbound leads generated through marketing initiatives and Indoor Sales.
Proactively develop new business by scheduling and conducting client meetings, establishing new accounts, closing sales, and ensuring timely payment collection.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive follow-up and issue resolution.
Represent the company at trade shows and industry conventions to expand brand visibility and grow your professional network.
Participate in strategic account planning to maximize growth opportunities.
Provide regular updates and activity briefings to the Sales Department Manager.
Requirements/ Must-Haves:
Minimum 1 year of experience in customer service, wholesale, or retail; food industry experience preferred.
Post-secondary education (university degree or college diploma).
Strong time management and organizational skills to manage client meetings, sales activities, and follow-ups effectively.
Proven relationship-building and networking abilities, with a successful track record of closing sales.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; able to engage effectively with both clients and team members.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, self-directed environment with attention to detail.
Willingness and ability to travel locally; valid driver’s license required.
Assets/ Nice-to-Haves:
Knowledge of seafood products and/or experience working with industrial customer accounts.
Previous sales or merchandising experience in the food or retail sector.
Proficiency in Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese or Vietnamese is considered an asset, as it may support communication with a diverse client base. All candidates will be considered regardless of language ability.
Compensation & Benefits:
